Aircraft are machines powered by jet engines or propellers. Aircraft come in all shapes and sizes. Aircraft are among others things used for goods transport, passenger transports and warfare. Most aircraft are flown by a pilot, but some are designed to fly them by remote control.

 

It was the Wright brothers who discovered and flew the first plane in 1903. They built their plane on George Cayley's idea from 1799. He was the first man to get the idea of modern aircraft. The first jet engine was the German engine Heinkel He 178 in 1939. De Havilland Comet was the first passenger plane, the Boeing 707

 

Some planes are powered by special fuels, but most of them are powered by diesel or gasoline. It's different on how much fuel a plane an take, but on average it burns about 12 liters per kilometer.
