In 1808, François Isaac de Rivaz designed the first truck that was steam-driven. But it was not until 1870, 62 years later, the first combustion engine was created by Siegfried Marcus who went for a two-wheeled petrol. The machine then developed over 10-15 years to what we call today, cars. With them also came clutches, petrol gears and different gears.

On June 20, 1904, The Car Age began in Iceland, the first car came to Iceland on behalf of Ditlev Thomsen, a merchant. The car was an old and bad model of the Cudell type and did not make a big deal, as it did not go very fast and as a result, no large copies were sold.

Cars have then evolved into much more capable and faster cars. They can either run on Metan, 95 Octane Gasoline, Diesel or Electricity. Today, this has become a big problem. In 2010, a study was conducted on the number of cars in the world, the result was around 1 billion, and it is estimated that 25 million cars are manufactured every year. This causes high pollution due to the combustion of gasoline and methane
